It may come as a surprise to you, but my workout regime, or lack thereof, sucks. I workout hard, but with no real goals or plan incorporated into my regime. Yet I constantly complain that I can’t gain weight (I’d be happy with 5 solid pounds). I am my body’s own worst enemy. And hopefully that’s about to change…
I’ve spent countless minutes researching different workout styles and types designed to build muscle and bulk up. While most of them were probably GREAT workouts, I never really stick with anything. I tend just to stick with what works to “maintain” what I already have. Which isn’t what I WANT. It’s human nature to want what we don’t have. We all know what we WANT. It’s just a matter of getting off your ass and making it happen. Because nobody can help you if you don’t want to help yourself.
Which brings me to the point of this post. Via one of my friends (who is also a trainer) from Chicago, I recently came across this program called Body Beast. We’ve all heard of P90X and how “amazing” it is, but I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of a program like this designed for GAINING weight. So here’s the gist of it–
(and HERE is the complete and detailed product training guide)
- 90 day program
- 3 stages (Build, Bulk and Beast)
- Proven to add 10lbs of muscle in those 90 days
- Comes with the necessary workout DVD’s and info
- Includes first month’s worth of supplements (not steroids)
- Doesn’t require a huge gym or lots or foreign equipment
- An online network to connect with people across the country trying the same programs.
- Coaches available to talk to with questions/problems online
- A meal plan option. Since that’s the MOST important thing. I won’t go into detail on it, as it differs for everyone.
THE THREE STAGES
BUILD: it’s the first phase, focuses on creating a strong foundation physically and nutritionally.
BULK: the second stage, where you really start to see a change for the good
BEAST: the final stage, where you get really ripped and put on size.
From the research I’ve done, this may not be for everyone. If you don’t workout on a fairly regular basis, you may want to do so before trying a program like this. I know I didn’t cover every aspect of this, so if this is something that interests you, research through the links I’ve provided. You want to make sure it’s going to fit you before spending the money and dedicating 90 days of working out to it.
I just received my stuff in the mail a couple days ago. Since I’m going on a float trip this weekend and then appearing at Tracks in Denver Labor Day weekend, right after that (Sept 3rd to be exact) is when this all begins. I will definitely keep you guys up to date on how it’s going with pictures and info on how the training is going.
